Came across this while I was working on the weekend. I'm sure I'm not the only parent (or person for that matter) haunted by Aylan's picture, each time I see it I think of my own children and how incredibly grateful I am that I was fortunate to have been born and raised, and now able to raise my own children, in a lucky country, because at the end of the day that is the only thing seperating him from my own children. His story makes me cry every time, I think about what him and his family must've gone through, I think about their pain and fear, their desperation. How is this the world that I live in, how is it that a persons value can depend on their geographical location or their skin colour, how can a politician sit in an office and decide that it's in anyone's best interest to turn these desperate people away knowing that there is no other hope for them? I feel angry that this is acceptable to some people, I feel sorry to all the people who are being let down by first world "humanity", and I feel totally helpless, too small to make a difference. #Repost @carrie.verkuylen ・・・ #adelaide #streetart #heartbreak #rip #aylankurdi
