I recall how the tragic images of Syrian toddler Aylan Kurdi shook the general public in Australia and the world; it prompted many to reconsider their thoughts and beliefs on refugees and immigrants. I truly hope that the world has not forgotten now that the images are in distant places in their minds. The images were indeed horrifying and allowed the world to feel connection and empathy for those fleeing their war torn lands, but this is not an isolated case; many other children have died and continue to die in the same circumstances, let us not forget them, or their families. Let us not forget that they are fleeing the same forces and dangers our government claims to oppose. When I was a kid I lived close to a beach and we would go there in the summer and collect shells. I remember painting the shells in art class. Just simple pictures of the sea. I was on a beach recently and collected a bunch of shells and it reminded me of being a kid. It also made me think of Aylan Kurdi who drowned last September trying to escape Syria. It made me wonder what beach scenes are being imprinted on the minds of kids these days when I was lucky enough to have idyllic images on mine. It also made me feel so sad for the people risking their lives to continue their lives elsewhere. No issue is black and white and the refugee crisis seems to be going through the media narrative in the same way as every issue. Right now we are in the backlash stage in which the refugees are bad and the media is running with that story to make money. When Aylan Kurdi died we were in the positive hopeful stage and the media ran with that. I wanted to paint this to kind of remember that, outside of the media narrative, these are still individual people with unique and tragic stories and we should really do what we can to help other individual humans in the same way we'd help our neighbour if they had problems. #refugeecrisis #aylankurdi #syrianrefugees #syria #refugeecrisiseurope #helprefugees

Let remember him for the smile ... not for the hurt.. coz I do believe God has put him in the heaven. #aylankurdi #angel #peace #poem #poetryofinstagram I often #draw or #paint children, and I enjoy it coz I feel the innocent, #beauty, and honesty in them. Even for my 1st mini exhibition sketches, I took the Palestinian children as the theme. Never have any intention to exploit them, for my pleasure, to get fame or to status. I do this to share that we have the most precious treasure, but too bad we often forget and abandon them, and one of the cause is war. I hate war, coz children are the first victims. War destroys life, economy and more. This world doesn't need more war and more hatred. What do we need are peace, love and humanity. I do believe when God gives me a skill in art, at least I must use it for useful matters . I can't go to fight in the war nor have a billion money to help the children, at least this is the thing, that I'm able to do. Spread the #love, #peace through #art..#watercolor #draw #sketch #boy
